Camp Site and Current Services
Curio Bay offers a unique camping experience in a rugged coastal setting.
Campsite:
Basic facilities include; showers, kitchen, sheltered tent, campervan and caravan sites (including powered sites). There is also a small shop providing basic groceries and snacks, picnic and BBQ areas.
Attractions include; the Curio Bay Petrified Forest, sight seeing Hector's Dolphins, Yellow Eyed Penguins and other wildlife. Activities include; safe swimming and, surfing from a beautiful sandy beach, fishing and guided walks. It is an excellent base from which to explore the other natural attractions of the Catlins.
Please note that as part of our project we will be updating the camping facilities whilst improving our visitor experience at the site. This initiative is being led by the South Catlins Development and Environmental Chritable Trust on behalf of the local community who wish to see Curio Bay preserved for both current and future generations of visitors
Guided walks:
Daily guided walks (seasonal limitations apply). Walks are suitable for all age groups, learn from an experienced local guide the facts about the Fossil Forest, wildlife, plants and history of the district.
